When bacterial micro-organisms in cooling water absorb ultraviolet (UV) light, their reproductive mechanisms shut down and they die off. Passing water through UV lamp/quartz sleeve systems not only disinfects the water by killing these forms of bacteria, but also kills yeast, mold spores, and several forms of legionella bacterium, (Legionnaires Disease).
UV units can be used on

- public water supplies,
- commercial water and
- process water.
UV systems for cooling water applications should be designed and sized specifically for each systems' mechanical characteristics and applications. North Eastern will perform a UV survey for the customers' site, and then use this information to design and size a UVCOOL filter system specifically for your application. Pesticide use is significantly reduced, if not totally eliminated.
